Senior Network Systems Administrator

Summary

The Sr. Network Systems Administrator performs a wide‐range of network‐related duties, including the design, implementation, and maintenance of complex networks and systems. This role is responsible for network design, disaster recovery planning, capacity planning, network security, server and network configuration, network administration and monitoring, thorough troubleshooting and maintenance. In addition, this role works closely with the IT Helpdesk team members providing technical guidance as needed.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Performs the more complex network and server administration functions, including configuring, installing, repairing, maintaining, and upgrading hardware and operating systems for both physical and virtual.
• Installs, customizes, configures, troubleshoots, tests and optimizes moderate to complex network software and physical infrastructure designs.
• Designs and implements network security solutions, including elements such as end user roles and groups, trust relationships, access rights, and directories.
• Performs WAN/LAN configuration to support the installation and maintenance of services over Internet Protocol (IP) such as audio, video and data.
• Analyzes network resource utilization and implements solutions to correct problems to ensure all network applications are accessible and functioning properly.
• Identifies and recommends appropriate changes to network infrastructure to improve performance, reliability and availability.
• Develops and recommends procedures for network management, including resource allocation of centralized, decentralized and remote network services.
• Plans and installs hardware upgrades for network servers and associated telecommunication devices.
• Identifies and resolves complex network problems; uses network management tools.
• Ensures network security according to policies and procedures; creates and maintains data security processes.
• Responsible for the development, implementation, and maintenance of backup and recovery solutions.
• Designs and maintain more complex network architecture, including hubs, routers and physical network.
• Conducts analysis in support of data center planning.
• Provides in‐depth support for information security incidents including internal violations, hacker attacks, viruses and system access. Ensures all security regulatory requirements are in place.
• Researches and evaluate network and server hardware and software options and upgrades including updates, patches, and service packs.
• Additional responsibilities as required by management.

Qualifications:

• BS degree in engineering/computer science or r a closely related field and three (3) years of recent full‐time experience in a centralized Information Technology organization* within the last five years in LAN design, configuration, and administration.
• VMware Certified Professional or equivalent experience.
• Experience in administration of cloud services, hyper‐converged infrastructure and Office 365 preferred.
• Understanding of SOX and HIPAA.
• Understanding of disaster recovery principals and implementation tools, technologies and methods.
• Healthcare IT with experience or knowledge of HIPAA preferred.

• May be required to manage multiple priorities and projects with tight deadlines simultaneously.
• Ability to work independently with little supervision.
• Effectively communicate technical information to non‐technical audiences.
• Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, including Project Management – a must.
